Sailors’ Society

We feel as our utmost social responsibility to communicate on our website the tremendous work and vision of Sailors' Society.

We always believed that the real asset in the maritime world is the seafarer, which forms our best advertisement and reason for our existence and excellence. We are pleased to be supporting maritime charity Sailors' Society and to be partnering with them on their Wellness at Sea Awareness Campaign to roll out mental health awareness and support to our crews.

Sailors’ Society is very grateful to Elvictor for highlighting our work and helping to raise awareness of the welfare and wellbeing needs of seafarers, the key workers of the sea.

Maritime charity Sailors’ Society has been supporting the world's 1.6 million merchant seafarers for more than 200 years and is one of the largest seafarer welfare charities.

The charity’s chaplains and family support teams work across 87 ports in 21 countries, reaching out to more than 23,000 seafarers every month, as well as to their families and communities at home. They extend a hand of friendship, and offer practical help, like phone cards to connect with loved ones at home, the latest newsprint in many languages and access to Wi-Fi hotspots.

They provide a wide spectrum of services – from chaplaincy to welfare support, access to education and financial help for those in desperate need. And their pioneering Wellness at Sea programme is leading the way in raising mental health awareness and providing support to thousands of crews around the world.

Seafarers can face intense isolation, the threat of piracy and extreme weather to bring us all 90 per cent of the goods we use every day. With the added stress of the pandemic, Sailors' Society's help is needed now more than ever.

Wellness at Sea Awareness Campaign

From June 2021, Elvictor will be using Sailors' Society's Wellness at Sea Awareness Campaign to increase awareness of mental health and wellbeing, and provide practical support to our crews. The awareness campaign is based upon Sailors' Society's 10 years' experience of Wellness training and was developed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
